Molybdenum market update on July 29, 2025
The domestic molybdenum market is showing an overall upward trend, with prices of molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and molybdenum powder increasing by approximately 20 yuan per ton-unit, 2,000 yuan per ton, and 5 yuan per kilogram, respectively. Under these circumstances, industry players are particularly focused on the shipment pace of molybdenum mining companies and the demand situation from downstream users.
In the molybdenum concentrate market, overall circulation remains slow. Influenced by the upcoming maintenance at a mine in Henan and a sudden incident at a copper-molybdenum beneficiation plant in Inner Mongolia, suppliers are generally reluctant to sell and exhibit a bullish sentiment, making it difficult for downstream buyers to replenish stocks. In the ferromolybdenum market, with average tender volume and price performance and tightening supplies of low-priced molybdenum concentrate, price negotiations between buyers and sellers are intense, leading to a slight rise in ferromolybdenum quotes. Recently, steel companies such as Zhongtian Steel, China First Heavy Industry, Shouguang Juneng Special Steel, and Shougang Qianxi Steel have tendered for ferromolybdenum. In the molybdenum chemical products and related markets, trading sentiment is relatively stable; driven by rising raw material prices, some holders have adjusted their quotes upward, though terminal customers continue to maintain just-in-time procurement.
