Nanometer violet tungsten oxide may be applied for producing infrared thermal insulation nano material. In other words, it can be applied in the production of thermal insulation films and other heat-insulating products for buildings and cars. The violet tungsten oxide can also be used as one of the raw materials in the process of preparing the nano particle size WC-Co composite powder by the violet tungsten oxide spray drying-direct carbonization method.
In this process, the needle-like particles of violet tungsten oxide grow from a diameter of less than 100nm to a diameter of less than 300nm, and the length of the particles becomes shorter, forming 1μm of adjacent particles. This is because the violet tungsten oxide particles grow and the grains are alloyed, so that the isolated crystal grains grow, and grow in the original length direction. The whole spherical particles are composed of a myriad of 300nm WC crystal grains, and the cobalt phase is uniformly coated and filled around the WC grains, and thus tungsten carbide grains are joined into one piece.
